Richard Yap started as a Commercial Model in Chowking.

The 44-year-old ‘Crush ng Bayan’ Richard Yap, who was popularly known as ‘Papa Chen’ in primetime show ‘My Binondo Girl’ admits that he’s enjoying showbiz although he lacks his private time. Beside from being known as ‘Papa Chen,’ Richard Yap popularly made his exposure in the Chowking commercial for almost seven years, and even though he’s new to acting with no formal training, Richard Yap proved that being a late bloomer in Showbiz doesn’t matter.

Richard Yap who plays Chen Sy, Kim Chiu’s father in the series. Richard, is also from Cebu and speaks fluent Visayan, which is another reason why he and Kim get along well on and off the set. 

In 2012, Yap made several appearances in the network. He played a recurring character in the top-rating drama, Walang Hanggan as Henry de Dios.

Recently, he is capturing tha hearts of many audiences in his Prime-Tanghali Hitserye, "Be Careful With My Heart" together with Ms. Jodi Sta. Maria a.k.a Maya Dela Rosa.

• Richard Yap as Richard "Ser Chief" Lim/Ricardo Lim - He is the owner and president of the famous Lim Aviation Services, an aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul business. Known for being a cold, harsh and strict boss, he has one son and two daughters, namely: Luke, Nikki and Abby. A widower of 5 years, losing his wife Alexandra to airplane crash, he hires Maya to take care of his youngest daughter after she rescues Abby from an incident at the airport. Maya endearingly calls him Ser Chief. Later in the story, he falls in love with Maya.

Recently, Richard Yap signed a contract with Star record- a local Recording Company in the Philippines. But prior to that, Richard Yap together with on screen partner, Ms. Jodi sta. Maria had their recording on BCWMH OST Soundtracks.
